Caring for Premium Fabric: A Season-by-Season Guide

Premium fabric is an investment, and how you care for it season to season is what determines whether it still looks new in a few years or shows wear after a few months.

Summer Care

Heat and sweat are the main stress on fabric in summer. Wash promptly after heavy wear, avoid direct harsh sunlight when drying (it fades color faster than shade-drying), and skip high-heat ironing on delicate weaves.

Winter Care

Heavier winter weaves need less frequent washing but more careful storage. Make sure garments are fully dry before folding them away, and store them somewhere ventilated rather than sealed, to avoid trapped moisture and odor.

  • Always check the fabric's specific care instructions before the first wash
  • Iron on the reverse side for prints and embroidery
  • Store folded, not on tight hangers, to protect the drape of heavier weaves
  • Keep dark and light fabrics separate during washing
Fabric Care

A gentle, cool wash almost always outperforms a hot one for preserving both color and texture over time.

These habits matter most for the heavier, richer weaves typically chosen for formal wear. Read: Styling Unstitched Fabric for Formal Occasions →
